Cerec machines make use of 3D imaging software to make an accurate and detailed replication of the tooth and this information is sent to a milling unit where the restoration is milled from a ceramic block. There is usually no need for messy impressions and the need for placing a temporary restoration can also be avoided as the milled tooth can be cemented or bonded the same day.
