Dental Bridge

Veneers, Crowns and Bridges

Dental veneers are a great way to improve the look of chipped, stained or slightly crooked teeth in as little as one or two appointments. There are two types of veneers namely composite and porcelain veneers and as the name applies, depends on the type of material that will be used.

Crowns are used to cover or cap a damaged tooth to restore function and form. All crowns are custom designed and is made to look like the original tooth or even better. At Santana Dental we can provide one day visit crowns or same day crowns as the technology we have in house can manufacture the crowns from a ceramic block whilst you wait or have a cup of coffee.

If you are missing one or more teeth you may need a bridge. A bridge is made up of two or more crowns that can replace missing teeth on either side of the gap.

Dentures

Dentures, or false teeth, are prosthetic devices made to replace lost teeth. There are a number of reasons why someone might require dentures, but the main reason is usually age. Tooth enamel starts to wear down as we get older, making the teeth more vulnerable to damage and decay. Tooth loss makes it a lot more difficult for older people to chew or eat very well. When older adults lose their teeth, the jaw bone will begin to shift and eventually start to waste away.

Dentures are an excellent way to restore the health, functionality and aesthetics of your mouth. A well-made denture can help you speak and eat more comfortably. Replacing missing teeth with custom-made dentures will also help enhance your smile and overall appearance, thereby boosting your confidence.

Materials used for dentures

Dentures can be made from a variety of materials such as:

Acrylic Dentures - these are made from a plastic type of material and are an easily moldable material.

Cobalt Chrome or Metal Dentures - these are a metal framework that support false teeth and are usually for partial dentures.

Cobalt chrome is a medically approved, light alloy metal. It is the strongest and most durable metal that can be used to make a denture that doesn't irritate the gums and mouth.

Flexible Dentures - Flexible dentures are a type of partial denture that is usually constructed from nylon or other thin thermoplastics, which differs significantly from the thicker, harder acrylic that is often used in partial dentures as a more comfortable denture.
